Whether you are taking a summer road trip or driving to your neighborhood pool, make sure your tires are in good shape with these tips.
- Check your tire pressure at least once a month.
- Inspect your tires every week for wear on the tread. If you notice that the tread is really worn down, you will most likely need to replace your tires within the next month. Most cars have a built-in treadwear indicator that will tell you when you need to replace your tires.
- If you see any foreign objects wedged in your tire, remove those as soon as possible.
- Ensure that your tire valves are capped.
- Make sure your tires are properly inflated. Under inflation can cause you to pay more for gas by 5 cents per gallon, or even worse, it could cause a blowout.
- Lastly, make sure you have proper auto insurance coverage in case of emergency.
