We have seen the frequency of auto accidents go up locally. Nationally, auto accidents have gone up 7 percent in 2016 from 2015 according to the National Safety Council. Fatalies increased 8 percent.
Three reasons auto accidents have increased.
1. More cars on the road and miles driven today
Cheaper fuel costs increased road density as more cars purchased and miles driven.
2. More driving distractions from texting, using phone, reading your GPS
This reason won't be disputed by many.
3. Younger more inexperienced drivers. This group of drivers are more prone to texting, speeding and running red lights to speed in school zones and use phone while driving like GPS aps, etc.
The increase in auto accidents have direct impact to auto insurance premiums.
