According to federal authorities, Texas has the largest number of firearms in the United States reported as lost or stolen. In total, there were 18,874 firearms lost or stolen in Texas in 2012, which was 10% of the total national number.
Most home insurance policies have a $1,500 sublimit for insuring firearms so if you have more guns to insure, you will want to contact your insurance agent and increase your coverage for firearms to be properly insurance.
Always keep the serial numbers of your firearms in a safe place in case they get stolen. The authorities can run searches with pawnshops and recovered stolen property with your serial number to see if your stolen firearms were pawned or recovered.
Always keep an inventory of your belongings. If you have questions on how to keep a home inventory please click here.
