DON’T FORGET! Daylight saving time is set to begin at 2:00 AM this Sunday!

Although most of us are aware of daylight saving, we typically don’t understand the importance of ensuring the safety or our home and our families while on the road during this time.

Did you know that automobile accidents tend to increase after daylight saving time? This is mainly due to the increased risk of drowsiness when on the road after losing sleep when the clocks change. Although it is just one hour of sleep, it can have an impact on the remainder of your day. Daylight saving time serves as a great reminder to make sure your home is up to date, which is just in time for spring cleaning! Listed below are a few tips during daylight saving.

Change your clocks

Make sure the clocks on your appliances, cars, and alarms are set correctly. This will help you avoid running behind and staying on track with your normal routine.

 Check Your Batteries

Daylight Saving Time tends to take place approximately six months after we fall back in November. This means that it is the optimal time to check the batteries in various appliance that ensure the safety of your home. Here are a few items we suggest you check:

  Smoke Detectors

  Carbon Monoxide Detectors

  Alarm Clocks

  Televisions

Avoid Drowsy Driving

There is always the risk of drowsy drivers on the road and daylight saving time is no exception. In fact, there may be a greater number of drowsy drivers at this time. To help ensure the safety of yourself and others, never get behind the wheel if you feel drowsy. Here are a few tips to help avoid this.

Go to bed a little earlier

Stay consistent in your normal routine

  Avoid Night-time driving

While you are reviewing the safety of your home, give us a call to review your policies.  It might be time to look into different coverage or update your policy!
