How to Avoid Three Common Summer Insurance Claims

______________________________________

Prepare ahead so your summer goes smoothly.

1. Roof

a. Trim trees back away from your roof.
They can cause damage if touching your roof, removing protective
granules on your shingles or falling onto roof causing an opening.

b. Get roof checked out for free by a roofer if you think
you might have unrepaired damage. Otherwise, you may get water
in your home in the next storm.

2. Water Damage

a. Ceiling leaks from clogged AC lines - Call your AC service for

annual review.

b. Flood damage from external rising water - get flood insurance

c. Water left on while away for summer vacation

- turn off water before you go on a long vacation.

d. Water heater burst in the attic- average age of a water heater is

10 years. Replace yours if you still have the older models if it is old.

3. Auto accidents

a. Teenagers out of school add more drivers to the road - if you have one,

constantly remind them of driving safety. No texting while driving.

If their vehicle has an alarm that you can set when they exceed a

certain speed, set it. It works.

b. More accidents result from texting and driving. Keep your eyes on the

road. If you have an accident, here's what you need to know.
