All insurance policies vary but you may want to check your home insurance policy for coverage for losses caused by unauthorized use of ATM, credit card or debit cards. As we go into a cashless society, the number of websites we enter our personal information with our credit or debit cards continue to grow everyday.
Some policies may have a coverage that assists you during unauthorized use of your cards. Most coverage will be limited so please read your policy or contact us to discuss your coverage.
An example of such coverage reads as :
We will pay up to the limit shown in the Declarations for this Property – Additional Coverage for: (1) The legal obligation of an “insured” to pay because of the theft or unauthorized use of credit cards issued to or registered in an “insured’s” name; (2) Loss resulting from theft or unauthorized use of an electronic fund transfer card or access device used for deposit, withdrawal or transfer of funds, issued to or registered in an “insured’s” name; (3) Loss to an “insured” caused by forgery or alteration of any check or negotiable instrument; and (4) Loss to an “insured” through acceptance in good faith of counterfeit United States or Canadian paper currency.
In some cases, no deductible applies.
Please contact us if you want to discuss.
