There have been so many auto recalls lately. The GM ignition recalls are growing. The ignition switch failure has lead to accidents. The defective switches may be inadvertently shut off when jarred, cutting power to the engine and deactivating air bags. This can cause you to be driving and then you lose control of the vehicle because it shuts off. This happened to me once (but not in a GM) and I cannot stop the vehicle with the foot brake and could not turn the steering because the power steering shut off so as you can see it can be dangerous. It is reported that more than 150 fatality claims are under review. GM is reserving as much as $600 million to pay accident claims. The recalls have deadlines and the deadline is around Thanksgiving so check yours now.
