Non-renewal

  • The insured may cancel at any time by submitting a notice as to the date of effect of cancellation; the insurance company will refund any unearned premium
  • The insurer may not renew the policy after the policy period ends due to:
    • changes in insurance company
    • too many claims -- 3+ claims that are not for a loss resulting from natural causes within a 3-yr. period
    • fraud
NOTE:  If an insurance policy is not going to be renewed, the insurance company must given 30 days' written notice to the insured.
